2020 – Wicked (Winder 2020 Update)

"Everyone deserves the chance to fly"

We were hoping to have different news for you; our loyal patrons, our cast and crew and our amazing suppliers but in a year of disappointments and uncertainty, the Engadine Musical Society has taken the very difficult decision to cancel our 2020 season.

This is the first time since our opening performance of The Mikado in 1976, we have not been on stage and like so many theatre companies, 2020 will sadly be blank.

Central to our decision making is the belief the safety of our patrons, cast and crew comes first. The continuing restrictions, uncertainties and health risks resulting from COVID-19 have forced us to once again postpone the show.

The Wicked rights holders have granted us permission to move our production to May 2021 and we are planning for an opening night on Friday 14 May 2021.

We also believe our cast are so amazing they deserve the best audience possible and, sadly, the current regulatory conditions won’t allow us to sell out the house.

We understand there is a lot of change happening in our world and appreciate this may still affect our plans for May 2021 but we are looking ahead with optimism.

We are so grateful for the ongoing support from Sutherland Shire Council who have recently hosted a virtual ‘At home Concert’ series keeping our storytelling alive and active – you can view this three-part series on our Facebook page.

We, like many others, love live performance and can't wait to return to the stage, work behind the scenes and to be in an audience again. This period has bought so much anxiety to so many. If you, or anyone you know needs help, please reach out through Beyond Blue on 1300 22 4636 or Lifeline on 13 11 14.

Thank you for your continued support of Engadine Musical Society and all the great quality local theatre, and we look forward to seeing you back at Engadine Theatre in 2021.

We will keep you updated via social channels and email. If you aren’t already an email subscriber, please subscribe here .

We miss you all and hope you are keeping safe and well.

With kind regards,

Sue Bunt

Singing Through Life

With theatres closed and rehearsals paused we wanted to create an at home concert for our patrons.

We contacted some Engadine MS past performers and asked them to record a song. We encouraged them to choose something they love singing or have always wanted to perform. It’s all a bit of fun!

Welcome to the three part series of Engadine Musical Society Inc presents Singing Through Life, proudly supported by Sutherland Shire Council and Sutherland Entertainment Centre.
